I’m excited to announce Test Double has added a fourth member to our board of directors to accelerate our business growth.

Jennifer Haas brings impressive business success as both a CEO and chief revenue officer, as well as prior experience as a board member for both for-profit companies and nonprofit causes.

Why we expanded our board

Since our board was established in 2020, it has primarily consisted of myself, Justin Searls, and Adam Torres, who was our only independent member until now. Last year we developed a strategy to add an additional member as we felt it would help us accomplish a number of objectives:

  • Another independent member would broaden our experience and minimize the blind spots we currently have as a team.
  • Adding a new independent member would move us closer to an ideal board composition for our size: a total of 5 total people, with at least 3 independent members.
  • A new member could expand our network, leading to more opportunities and connections with new prospects.
  • A board member with the right background could provide expertise that would accelerate our sales and marketing focused initiatives.
  • Our board didn’t reflect the level of diversity that we are striving for as a company overall. If we could hire an independent board member from an underrepresented group, we could become better as a team at problem identification and resolution.

How we searched for a new board member

I worked with our friends at a16z who operate their board member recruiting service and received some invaluable perspectives on how to identify the right type of board member. They have a comprehensive blog post on the personas of board members. When discussing this and reviewing our needs, it became clear that we had a gap in functional expertise with demand generation. From there, we created a profile of an ideal board member.

I worked with Anya Iverova (our head of Talent Acquisition) to start a search for ideal members. Anya did not disappoint. I started with a list of 50 or so highly capable people, and I began reaching out to each one personally. That yielded about 12 candidates who we seriously evaluated, and the board ultimately agreed Jennifer was by far the best fit.

We’re really excited to have Jennifer join our board effective January 1 of this year. I have no doubt that having her as part of the Test Double board will have a significant impact on our business and culture moving forward.
